Boosted Review: A One-Stop Shop Video Content Creation Platform
Small businesses are increasingly under pressure to create innovative and relevant content for their customers – and for a good reason. It’s a fruitful way of increasing sales, retaining loyal customers, and attracting new ones. But, with so many companies turning to video marketing, it’s a crowded marketplace, so how can you ensure your brand stands out?
One of the most popular and effective content formats is video. Using this medium to promote your business has tons of potential to reach vast audiences on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, to name just a few leading platforms.
Any small or medium business wishing to attract an audience needs to take video marketing seriously. The stats bear this out, with 16.6% of 18-25-year-olds watching more than 20 hours of video a week and 14.9% of 26-35-year-olds doing the same.
There’s been a lot of positive noise lately about a freemium video content creation app called Boosted, so I thought I’d give it a try to see what the buzz is all about.
Here’s what I found out.
A Video Maker That Saves You Time
Without the right tools, editing knowhow and original footage, creating video content is costly and can take ages, presenting a significant roadblock for smaller enterprises.
To solve this problem, Boosted makes it easy for you to create beautiful, well-designed, and non-generic-looking videos to promote your brand. You can use this platform either from your mobile or on your desktop. But, the best part is that it’s free to use, although you can upgrade to a Pro account to access more advanced options.
To get going, all you have to do is create an account, and you’re in. You have instant access to ready-made, high-quality templates, free music, and stock images. You can also customize your color palette, fonts, and video clips and even add your own logo to your creations.
Within two to three minutes, you can create video content with the potential to attract new audience members and flip followers into customers.
Boosted’s Libraries of Templates
There are hundreds of templates for free account users, plus a whole lot more Pro options. Premium templates are easily signposted with a crown graphic located on the top right-hand corner.
There are templates explicitly designed to meet the needs of a diverse array of industries, including beauty, food, fashion, business, finance, digital marketing, real estate, and travel. There’s even a separate set of templates for managing obstacles brought about by the pandemic, such as businesses offering delivery, online book clubs, private counseling sessions, and so on.
You can easily customize these templates to reflect your brand. For example, I had some fun with this free template.
I was also able to choose accompanying music from a wide range of sounds, change the font, and add a background color to the font using a color palette. If none of the stock sounds appeal to you, you can add your own music by simply dragging and dropping it into the video clip.
I also experimented with a paid-for template.
There’s no difference between the Pro and free features. The distinction lies in the availability of different templates that I think are more attractive and higher quality.
Boosted also makes it easy to adjust the media by replacing images and video segments with your own – or pictures from Boosted’s libraries. You can also apply different filters to images, and trimming the size of the clip is a breeze.
As for video duration, the initial clips are all under 20 seconds in length. But, you can click the plus sign to increase its length to a full 61 seconds.
The Video Editor
Thankfully, there’s no rocket science involved here, so if you want to edit videos and fast, Boosted makes it simple. All the commands are intuitive – the customization and editing tools are in a bar on the left-hand side of the screen. You literally click on the one you want: Font, Palette, Music, or Media, and you’re ready to get going.
You can also edit the text. The edit button is on the top-right-hand corner of the template image. Likewise, you can change the color palette and font style of the pre-existing text and modify where the text is placed on the template.
You can add other clips from the Boosted library to your pre-existing video template. Happily, the clips are royalty-free, so you’re in no danger of copyright infringement.
In the case of the Pro templates, you can also add your own logo to the template to boost brand awareness.
Simply add the logo, and it will appear in the circle that sits top, mid-center of the template.
Lastly, you can preview videos instantly. There are three boxes just above the video listing your resizing options. Depending on where you’re publishing your work, you can pick the most suitable choice.
Boosted recommends the square format, because it suits most social media platforms. In contrast, the vertical rectangle is better for TikTok, and the horizontal one is better for YouTube.
Once you’re done editing, just click on the Export button on the top right-hand side of the screen and Boosted downloads your video automatically. It’s instantly available on your device in MP4 format and high-res.
Pricing and Support
While you get a lot for free, there are also two paid-for plans. The yearly plan at the time of writing costs $99 at a 45% discount, and you’re billed $8.25 a month. Alternatively, you can simply pay monthly at the cost of $14.90 a month.
Boosted hasn’t created any video tutorials yet. Still, they have a series of FAQs tailored explicitly for iOS and Android mobile users and a separate category for web users. So it’s simple to find answers to questions about what you can and can’t do.
They also offer guides on social media content strategy, promo video marketing, TikTok hashtag strategy, and Instagram hashtag strategy. On top of that, there’s a well-designed blog that covers tons of topics, including video marketing tips for small businesses, Instagram Reels ideas, and so on.
Boosted: Our Final Verdict
Small and medium-sized businesses looking for an affordable and comprehensive one-stop video creation platform for creating attractive videos quickly can undoubtedly benefit from adding Boosted to their arsenal.
You don’t even need your own content to get going, which is essential if you’re a startup with little or no marketing budget to speak of.
It’s easy to use, intuitive, and has attractive pre-built templates and sounds. So, you don’t have to look very far to create good-looking content. In addition, it takes the hassle out of time-consuming visual content creation, so you can focus on boosting your bottom line instead. What’s not to love about that?
