Small Businesses Embracing MADE IN THE USA
Beekman 1802 – Skincare Products
You’ve probably heard of the “Farm to Table” trend with regard to food, where restaurants use only products raised or made at local farms. Now imagine taking only products from local farms to develop a skincare line!
That’s exactly what Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, better known as The Fabulous Beekman Boys, have done with their Beekman 1802 skincare line.
Perhaps you’ve seen their television show and know the story of these two men who stumbled upon the Beekman 1802 farm in upstate New York in 2008 and then purchased it, forever changing their lives. Determined to turn the farm back into something lasting, just as the original owner Judge William Beekman had done over 200 years ago, Brent and Josh set out to grow their business of farm-inspired goods. By keeping true to their values of community and collaborating with local farmers, artisans and craftpersons to produce their goods, Beekman 1802 is now “the fastest growing lifestyle brand in America” according to NASDAQ.
With skincare products ranging from pure goat milk soaps, farm-to-skin body washes, “Fresh Air” shampoo and conditioner, all natural bug sprays and their ‘Little Black Mask’ goat milk and clay mask, Beekman 1802 (and their goats) are producing products that are making a big splash in the skincare industry. All of these products are available online and in their physical Mercantile on Main Street in Sharon Springs, New York.
“We manufacture all of our Beekman 1802 skincare line in the USA, and we proudly print that on every bottle,” says Brent. “Because of safety concerns with overseas manufacturing, we find that a lot of people are willing to pay for the assurances of a USA made product.”
“First look at the capabilities in your own community. There are often small businesses or family run manufacturing with excess production capacity. This is how we started our Mortgage Lifter Pasta Sauces, which are now in Target stores nationwide.”>> Continue to read about AquaNotes
