Everyone in the New York area knows the Modell’s iconic brand. It’s where you go to get every kind of sports and athletic wear you need. Like many retailers, Modell’s future was (and is) challenged by Amazon and shifting consumer purchase buying patterns.
The Wall Street Journal reports that then Modell’s hired a company to possibly help it go bankrupt, it’s vendors got nervous and stopped (or slowed) shipping products to it.
Modell’s CEO used video and lots of communication, including giving his personal number to vendors, to calm vendors and get Modell’s back on track.
It’s a lesson we can all learn.
