Work or Family? NFL Player Richard Sherman’s Dilemma – What All Entrepreneurs Identify With
Richard Sherman, NFL Player for the Seattle Seahawks has a big decision to make. Does he support his girlfriend and be a part of the experience of the birth of his first child, or does he go to work and support his team and help them win in one of the biggest experiences of his life… the Super Bowl?
We’ve all gone through this. We’re up late at night on a client phone call or doing some other work for our business and we’ve missed our children’s school trips, neglected our spouses, or had to tell close friends that they’d have to take the big trip without us. It’s tough.
Huffington Post writer, and Infusionsoft executive, Jeff Mask writes about the myth of “work life balance”. He calls it work life harmony.

My advice for entrepreneurs in this constant dilemma is to have open communication with your family.
Overall, your family always comes first (or it should).
However, sometimes, to put your family first (to provide for them) you have to give your business temporary priority. If you don’t have a business YOU CANNOT FEED YOUR FAMILY or live the life you want.
On the other hand, you must also clearly community with clients and other professionals.
They should already know that your family comes first and that at times, you will have to say no to something or delay it, in lieu of personal responsibilities and commitments.
What do you say?
