The Importance of Keeping Up with Changing Technology: An Interview with Jenn Choi of Neat
Established in 2002, Neat is a company that helps businesses run more efficiently by assisting them with the management of financial information. Originally known for their hardware and scanners, Neat has had to keep up with changing technology in the last several years. In a recent interview, I spoke with Jenn Choi, the CMO of Neat. She spoke about how the company is continually looking for ways to stay current by keeping up with changing technology. She also shared tips for fellow business owners.
Keeping Up with Changing Technology – The Story of Neat
Neat has patented technology and other tools that will help businesses automatically enter data. Businesses can also run reports or send information to Quick Books online. Some companies may not need a scanner, so their new products and services can help with information management by providing email, importing, and mobile app support. In other words, Neat gives businesses many options.
In our interview, Jenn discussed how many companies have not been able to keep up with the fast technological changes in the way Neat has done. She says it’s easy for a business to get stuck in doing things “the old way,” and not get out of their comfort zone and try something new. However, she points out that this is not a wise thing to do. In order to stay relevant and keep your business growing, it is imperative that organizations keep up with the changing times. To do this, businesses need to keep their eye on the trends. They need to think ahead of things and stay a few steps ahead of the competition.
3 Business Tips from Neat CMO, Jenn Choi
When asked for advice to give to people, who either want to start or grow their businesses, Jenn had three very strong pieces of wisdom.

Jenn recommends that every entrepreneur should have a strong support system. Many feel like they need to do it by themselves. However, she points out that there are always people out there who can give you advice. You don’t have to figure it out for yourself. There are many people with more knowledge and experience, so utilize those resources and take advantage of them.
2. Embrace Technology
As stated above, you should embrace technology. Some people think technology is scary, but it can be your friend in business. There are so many options available these days, and the barrier to entry is lower than it was 5-10 years ago. So search for some free trials and get to know how to use new platforms.
3. Have Good Credit
Jenn stressed the importance of having good credit. Without it, you cannot get a loan to start a business, and you certainly can’t get a credit line. As any business owner knows, there will be times of economic uncertainty, so you will want to have a safety net in place.
Jenn’s advice is solid, and anyone who has a business, or is thinking about starting one, should seriously think about the information she shared with us. As you know, information is power. So use this to your advantage!
