Raising the minimum wage has been a hot debate and it recently got a lot hotter in New York as Governor Andrew Cuomo plans to raise the minimum wage to $15 p/hour in his state. While the justification of raising the minimum wage in order to help support working families is understood, the negative impact that it will have on Small Businesses both in New York, and across the nation, cannot be denied.
Smart Hustle Magazine publisher, Ramon Ray, recently joined Maria Bartiromo on her morning Fox Business show to discuss the impact that raising the minimum wage would have on Small Businesses. Joined by Butch Yamali, a local small business owner in New York, the discussion worked through the impact that this would have on small business. “I don’t mind paying the wages,” says Yamali, “but for entry level positions – teens and college students – I won’t be able to hire them any longer and they won’t find jobs.”
